Sheriff Robert A. Austino brings over 30 years of law enforcement experience to the Sheriff’s Office. He was hired by the Vineland Police Department in April 1973. He worked his way up the ranks of the Vineland Police Department to the rank of lieutenant. Sheriff Austino retired from the Vineland Police Department in July of 2003. He was elected Sheriff of Cumberland County and took office January 1, 2009.
Sheriff Austino attended Bridgeton High School, Cumberland County College and Glassboro State College.
Sheriff Austino currently is a member of the International Association of Chief of Police, National Sheriff’s Association, New Jersey Sheriff’s Association, Cumberland County Human Relations Commission and Cumberland County Youth Services Advisory Council. He is also an advisor for the Cumberland County VoTech Center. He is past president of the Fraternal Order of Police, Cumberland Lodge #8 and president of the Vineland Superior Officers Association.
Undersheriff Michael Santiago brings over 29 years of Police experience to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. He started his career with the Millville Police Department in 1976 as a Police Explorer. In 1980 he became a Police Reserve Officer and in December of 1983 he became a full time Officer after graduating from the New Jersey State Police Academy in Sea Grit, NJ. During his career with the Millville Police Department, he reached the rank of Captain.
In 2009, he retired from the Millville Police Department and in March of 2012 he started with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. His position was Chief of the Enforcement Division. In 2015, he was promoted to Undersheriff and is currently overseeing Internal Affairs.
Undersheriff Santiago attended the Millville High School and then attended the Cumberland County College. He is also a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy.
Undersheriff Vincent P. Solazzo became Undersheriff with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office on January 9, 2020. Before that, He served with the Vineland Police Department for 28 years until his retirement in 2010. During his service with the Vineland Police Department, Vincent worked his way up the ranks from Special Law Enforcement Officer to Sergeant.
Even after his retirement, Vincent chose to continue to serve his community through the City of Vineland Police Department as a Class II Special Law Enforcement Officer. He also served as a Security Director providing security services for AlliedBarton, until his placement as Chief Warrant Officer with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
To prepare for his role in law enforcement, Vincent attended the Burlington County Police Academy, and took courses at Caldwell College, and Kaplan College. Vincent has also had extensive training with regard to narcotics and investigation, firearm instruction, surveillance detection, explosive devices and chemical agents, search and seizure, search and rescue, and supervision.
Vincent’s accomplishments include certifications in Police Motorcycle Operation, Active Shooter Instruction, Shopping Center Terrorism, Retired Officer’s Firearms Instructor and Firearms Instructor, Monadnock MEB Instructor, Counter Terrorism Trainer, Field Training Officer, Defensive Driving Instructor, Drug Enforcement, Police Supervision, and Security Officer Registration Act Instructor (S.O.R.A.).
Vincent continues to serve his community with his involvement throughout Cumberland County. He has participated in Police Youth Week (PYW). He serves on the Cumberland County Police Explorer’s Post #1 board. He was the coordinator for the Vineland Police Academy. Vincent has also coached youth baseball and softball. He is a member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #8, the North Italy Beneficial Association as well at the Elks Lodge #580.
