Michael F. Barruzza

 

 

Sheriff Mike Barruzza is a Vietnam veteran having served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from the Vineland Police Department in 1999, after supervising the Juvenile Division and serving as the department's School Liaison Officer. He has over 38 years of law enforcement experience and is currently serving his third term as Cumberland County Sheriff.


Sheriff Barruzza created the K-9 Division within his department, providing training for dogs and officers in the detection of explosives and narcotics, while promoting public and school safety.


He has instituted successful programs such as Senior Citizen Home Security, on-going Child Safety Car Seat Give Away, and DWI Awareness "Fatal Vision" demonstrations. Sheriff Barruzza also established Explorer Post #115 and a county "Get Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs" fishing tournament.


The Sheriff is committed to continue to provide services to the citizens of Cumberland County and support for all Law Enforcement agencies. He has supplemented local law enforcement with Halloween Patrols in the county's townships and has assisted with security and traffic control for major events such as Bay Day and the Millville Air Show.
