

The K-9 Division of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department currently has two dogs and two handlers.
K-9 Officer Johnson currently handles Boomer, an explosives detection canine.
Boomer is a 14 month old Black Labrador retriever. Boomer and Officer Johnson have completed the New Jersey State Police Canine Academy for explosives detection.

Sheriff Robert A. Austino is proud to announce the introduction of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department's newest K-9 unit, Krypto. Krypto is a 2 1/2 year old German Shepherd imported from the Netherlands.
Krypto and his handler K-9 Officer Shaffer II have completed a 16 week Patrol training course at the John "Sonny" Burke Canine Academy located in Atlantic County.
Patrol Work consists of the following:
